Physical
Nellie is a short girl with freckles, red blush under her eyes, and long brown hair done up in a really long ponytail.
Attire
Nellie wears a white shirt, purple dungarees with a yellow flower on the front and yellow sandals.
Personality
Nellie is a more laid-back and down-to-earth girl who occasionally shows bouts of cynicism. While Tater is more likely to get things done, Nellie would rather stay out of doing anything and avoid work altogether. Contrary to most depictions of middle children, Nellie seems rather glad at being left out of things, if that ever happens. While she tries to avoid doing any big chore, Nellie would end up finding an obsession of some sort to focus on. While she rarely shows it, she does care for her family and simply tries to look out for Tater's well being.

- In the pitch bible, there was many differences with Nellie:
- First, her name was slightly different, just Mellie.
- Nellie's appearance is also different, since instead of taking her mothers pigment, she has the same color skin as Bud.
